About

“Our deepest calling is to grow into our own authentic self-hood, whether or not it conforms to some image of who we ought to be. As we do so, we will not only find the joy that every human being seeks–we will also find our path of authentic service in the world.” ― Parker J. Palmer

About Joannah

As a licensed marriage and family therapist for over ten years, I’ve had the privilege to be present with people during seasons of pain, confusion about their purpose in life, and overwhelming anxiety. I’ve also had the incredible honor of watching individuals, couples, and families grow, learn and thrive. These brave individuals chose not to ignore or avoid their pain, but to embrace a journey toward health and wholeness.

I’m grateful for the variety of professional experiences that prepared me to launch Flourish Counseling, LLC. For ten years I served as Managing Editor of a spiritual formation magazine, Conversations Journal and worked as a staff therapist at Richmont Graduate University, where I completed my masters in 2006.  I spent several years teaching undergraduate psychology at Pointe University. I loved the challenge of making that required class fun and engaging for all majors. I can’t forget to mention my first job– working in my parent’s restaurants where I learned the value of hard work and the reward of serving others.

Providing counseling and mental health services to the in-town neighborhoods of Atlanta has been a hope of mine for many years.

I couldn’t do this if not for the support of my family; Jason and our two children, Mason and Shepherd.
